Kim Henry
Executive Director
As the Founder and Executive Director of Mane Support,
working with the families, staff, volunteers and equine
counselors is where Kim finds her passion for her life’s
work. Kim has a Masters in Therapeutic Recreation and
a Masters in Inclusive Early Childhood Special Education,
encompassing 20 plus years with the last 14 years focused on
hospice work and the grief and loss issues of children,
teens and families. She is also a
Certified Bereavement Facilitator/Specialist with the
American Academy of Bereavement, a member of the Association
of Death, Education and Counseling (ADEC) where she is
certified as a Thanatologist (grief counselor) and has
completed her certification as a Trauma Specialist through
The Trauma and Loss Institute for Children (TLC). Kim
is a certified level one equine specialist through EAGALA,
Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association. Kim
is also the author of Hoof to Heart...a guide to
understanding grief, loss and the healing power of the

Teresa Cogburn
Equine Specialist
Teresa Cogburn
is one of our equine specialist and is an EAGALA certified
level one equine specialist. She and her husband,
Freddie, own 316 Farms where Mane Support sessions and
training are held. She started working with horses
while being a student at Hiwassee College during her work
study program while obtaining a degree in Church Worker
Technology. This planted seed grew while working at
Camp Wesley Woods for 20 years. Her interests include
gardening, hiking, working on the farm, and family
activities. She also has a BS degree in Bible Youth
Ministry/Christian Education from Johnson Bible College. Teresa views helping people through Mane
Support as a privilege and a blessing.

Freddie Cogburn
Equine
Specialist
Freddie Cogburn
is one of our equine specialists. He has completed
the first half of his EAGALA level one certification and is looking
forward to working with clients, with a special emphasis on
men's groups and family sessions. In addition to his
love for horses, Freddie holds an AS degree in Computer
Science and is an Information Services Manager for
Clayton Homes. Freddie and Teresa are the proud
parents of two boys, Christopher and Jeremiah.
Ashley
Symington
University of
Tennessee Intern
Ashley has her bachelor’s degree in rehabilitation services
from the University of Maine at Farmington where she
graduated magna cum laude in 2006. She has worked at two
different wilderness therapy programs, and is currently
pursuing her master’s degree in mental health counseling at
the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.

Sara Roth
Equine
Specialist
Sara
Roth has many years of experience with horses, including
riding, competition showing, training horses, managing barns
and teaching others to ride. She began working at Mane
Support in the barn August of 2008. After getting her
EAGALA certification in May 2009, she became an Equine
Specialist, as well as the Barn Manager.
Sara is
working on a degree in Psychology at the University of
Tennessee. In her spare time she enjoys playing with her
three dogs and two horses, one of which is Kadar, pictured
with Sara. When asked why she chooses to work with horses,
Sara said, “Horses have done so much for me in my life. I
love being able to share this gift with others.”

Janelle
Nimer
Counselor, LCSW
Janelle
Nimer is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She has done
clinical social work since 2005. After moving to Knoxville,
Tennessee from Salt Lake City, Utah in 2006, Janelle started
working on her Ph.D. in Social Work. She has a passion using
animals to assist with therapy. She returned to school to
study Animal-Assisted Therapies. Most of her experience is
with dogs and dolphins, but since she came to Tennessee she
has a growing love for horses.
Janelle worked three years in veterinary social work at the
University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine. She
began volunteering at Mane Support in July 2009. In
December 2009, she started working for Mane Support once she
was certified with EAGALA.
Janelle has a loving fiancé and two Labrador retrievers. She
and her fiancé enjoy snowmobiling, wakeboarding, scuba
diving, four-wheeling, seeing new places, and spending time
with their dogs.

Natalie
Egeland
Military
Support and Volunteer Coordinator
Natalie Egeland is one of our newest members and is a recent
graduate of Maryville College where she obtained a BA degree
in psychology. She is our volunteer and military support
group coordinator. She became aware of Mane Support and it’s
mission while being an intern student for Mane Support.
Horses were Natalie’s first love as she has been working
with and riding horses since she was six years old. Natalie
is recently married and her husband is currently on his
second tour to Iraq. |
